About the Role
To provide psychometric and talent assessment expertise that supports strategic workforce decisions, enhances talent acquisition, development, and succession planning, and ensures compliance with ethical and legislative frameworks. The Senior Psychometrist will play a critical role in driving data-driven talent insights to support capability development, organisational culture, and leadership excellence within the insurance sector.
Key Responsibilities
1. Psychometric Assessment & Interpretation
- Administer, score, and interpret a wide range of psychometric assessments for recruitment, development, and succession planning.
- Develop assessment batteries tailored to different job families and leadership levels.
- Provide expert feedback and reports to candidates, HR business partners, and hiring managers.
- Ensure all assessments comply with HPCSA, EE Act, and POPIA requirements.
2. Talent and Capability Analytics
- Integrate assessment data into broader talent analytics frameworks (e.g., potential, performance, and readiness mapping).
- Contribute to workforce planning by providing psychological insights into talent pipelines and skills risk.
- Partner with HR to analyse trends and make data-informed recommendations for leadership and technical capability development.
3. Organisational Development & Culture
- Support leadership development, career pathing, and succession planning through psychometric profiling and behavioural insights.
- Contribute to organisational culture diagnostics, engagement surveys, and role-fit analyses.
- Assist in designing assessment centres and development programmes aligned to the organisation’s leadership competency framework.
4. Stakeholder Management & Consultation
- Partner with line managers, HR, and executives to align assessment practices with business needs.
- Provide professional guidance on psychometric tool selection, validation, and interpretation.
- Coach HR and leadership teams in understanding psychometric outputs and behavioural indicators.
5. Governance & Compliance
- Maintain registration with the HPCSA as an Independent Psychometrist in good standing.
- Ensure ethical use and storage of psychometric data in line with psychological and legal standards.
- Contribute to the evaluation and accreditation of psychometric tools used across the business.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- Honours Degree in Psychology (Industrial/Organisational or Counselling stream).
- Registered as a Psychometrist (Independent Practice) with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Industrial/Organisational Psychology (advantageous).
- Certification in advanced psychometric tools (e.g., SHL, Saville, Hogan, OPQ, or 15FQ+).
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Psychometrist, ideally in financial services or insurance.
- Demonstrated experience in talent management, leadership development, and/or OD initiatives.
- Proven ability to interpret and communicate complex assessment data to non-specialist audience.
- Proven experience in designing and facilitating assessment centres for talent selection and development.
- Experience working with integrated HR systems, assessment platforms, and data analytics tools.

Additional Information
